This annual sale once again delivered an exceptional entry of quality rams, with buyers in attendance from far and wide.

SUFFOLKS
This year the judging of the Suffolks was in the very capable hands of Master Clark Ellwood, Grizebeck who had 2 high quality classes presented before him.
From a class of 13 shearlings the first prize rosette was awarded to TA Blair, Poulton le Fylde which later achieved a sale topping prize of £3200 purchased by the judge. The lamb class also had an entry of 13 forward and saw S Bolland, Bolton Abbey receive the red rosette which later sold for £1400 to a local breeder.
All Suffolks forward experienced spirited bidding with other notable shearling prices being £2000, £1800 RA Batty, £1800, £1600 JH Towers & Sons, £1600, £1400 AR Edmondson, £1500 S Barlow & R Cook, £1400 RA & L Hodgson.
Ram lambs peaked at £1600 from S Bolland who sold others at £1400, £1200, £1000. J Irving sold lambs to £1200 with others at £1000 from C Kenyon and TA Blair.

CHAROLAIS
Charolais rams saw shearlings sell to £700 from JA & R Geldard & Sons with others to £600 from B & A Crane and SC & NC Hodgson with lambs to £500 from S Cumming.

Badger Face Texel shearlings sold to £600 from R&SA Rawsthorne. Dutch Spotted shearlings to £500 from J Stamper and lambs to £680 from KP Dagger. Lleyn shearlings sold to £750 from JA & R Geldard & Sons.
TEXELS
A super entry of Texels were this year judged by Mr J Hoggarth, Ulpha who awarded the first prize rosette to WJ & VJ Case which later sold for £2000. The ram lamb class was won by M Wayne. Buyers were keen to secure Texel rams for both prime lamb and gimmer replacement breeding. Notable prices include J Woodburn & Partners to £3200 & £2000, WJ & VJ Case to £2400, £2200 & £2000, E Woodburn to £1800, HJ & PA Berry to £1600, MW & HE Pedley to £1600, A Williams to £1600, £1500 and S Cunliffe to £1500.

CROSSBREDS
An exceptional entry of crossbred rams this year presented before the judge Mr W Sedgley. The first prize shearling rosette was awarded to WM Reed & Sons showing a Texel x Beltex which later sold for £2800. Crossbred tups sold exceptionally well with power and strength at a premium, topping at £2800. Other principal prices include G Sowerby to £2000, £1800, £1700, £1600, RF Towers to £1700, WM Reed & Sons to £1600, WJ & VJ Case to £1600, H Taylor & Partners to £1600, JA & R Geldard & Sons to £1400.
